Coming Home to Love: A Journey Through Loneliness

A Journey Through Loneliness

Have you ever caught yourself observing the dance of love unfold between two souls so deeply entwined, and wondered how they could be so blessed to feel, to embrace such a genuine connection? Perhaps, meanwhile, you’ve been shadowed with a sense of solitude that weighs upon you, even when you’re surrounded by a multitude of faces. This is not just a story about loneliness—it’s an odyssey, charting through the choppy seas of internal unrest to find solace in a love too often deemed elusive.

Let me address the elephant in the room: feeling alone does not discriminate. It doesn’t care about the affection of your friends or the love letters penned by family; it may even seem undeterred by the spiritual love professed by the faithful. There persists a gaping void, an overflow of emptiness that neither the rush of alcohol nor the soothing chants of meditation can adequately fill. Consider this an indictment of the soul—a marked individual, complete and whole, yet resonating with nothingness.

Now, the introspection comes with a glimmer—a promising flicker of hope. This hope, however, demands we acknowledge the genesis of our afflictions. Sin, with its cruel and stealthy ways, etches scars so profound they can obliterate our inner peace. The symptoms, this overwhelming sensation of feeling undeserving, hollow, and emotionally desensitized, are but the surface wailings of a deeper turmoil.

However, the proclamation rings clear: we are not unsalvageable or dangling precariously off life’s edge. Because in the act of true repentance, there is liberty. The sacrifice on the cross rendered our debts paid: the blood of Jesus was to be the ticket to unfathomable grace. But with freedom comes responsibility, and here is where we often stumble and fall—questioning the very nature of sin and grace.

Have you wrestled with the concept of grace being a free pass to error, only because forgiveness seems just a prayer away? Does that count as repentance if you’re aware that the very sin you shed tears over today will be welcomed back with open arms at the next opportunity? Merely put, no. Genuine repentance is not just an act of contrition; it’s a resolute turn from the pathways and prompts of sin. It’s summoning the valor to be vulnerable at the feet of the Almighty, relinquishing dominance to the One who navigates the grand cosmos.

It’s about humbling our royal pride—the natural desire to grasp the reins of our lives—and embracing the truth that the Architect of our destinies is more omniscient than we could ever aspire to be. He isn’t just our creator; He is the embodiment of love itself.

In our quest for validation, we often grope in the dark, seated at the tables of temporality when we should be feasting in eternal satisfaction. Yet no validation suffices to nurse the wounds of our private battles—those countless moments when we’re faced with our demons, and we struggle to recognize the person in the mirror.

The path to rediscovering love begins with a series of deliberate steps: Repent sincerely. Forgive yourself. Surrender your control. Then, and only then, can you bask in the awe-inspiring works of God’s hands within your life. What once felt like a far-off dream, a distant love tale, will become the sanctuary of your heart.

When we stand in the presence of God, we’re not just standing in an abstract space—we are enveloped by love itself. Within His presence lies the joy, peace, and serenity we’ve sought in vain elsewhere.

This is a call to the weary, to the spirits adrift in the sea of discontent, yearning for an anchor. It’s not the end of the road; it’s merely a bend. It’s time to pivot towards the outstretched arms of Divine love and finally feel the embrace that neither time nor eternity can erode.

A Journey Through Loneliness

Boldly venture on this journey back home to love. It is in that return that you will rediscover, in full measure, the love that refused to give up on you—the love that has been waiting for your return all along.

You are not broken! You are loved, and chosen, and He has called you by name. As one of my favorite songs sings, ‘With just one look, everything changes, I’m captivated, I’ll never be the same’. You’ll never be the same, loving and being loved will never be the same. I choose God, I choose peace, who do you choose?
